I love exploring the deep mountains and forests of Japan. Some hikers love to summit tall wind-blown peaks, but I prefer to stay down in the deep, cool valleys. I have never seen a tanuki on my hikes, but I have seen foxes, monkeys, deer and boar. I hope to add tanuki to that list someday!

Each print is numbered, hanko sealed, embossed with Stephen's name, and signed by Jed Henry.

This design requires several individual impressions to achieve a full range of color. Stephen uses the finest quality of yamazakura (mountain cherry) to carve his printing blocks. The wood is capable of holding a very fine level of delicacy – every last detail is printed by the wood left standing, after the rest has been cut away.
