'Water' Woodblock Print
This handmade woodblock print was inspired by the work of Alphonse Mucha, one of the great Art Nouveau visionaries of the late 1800s.
This print was carved and printed by apprentice printmaker Cal Carlisle. You can see more of Cal's work here. In printmaking, one of the hardest tasks is smoothly printing broad areas of flat color, as seen in the red areas of this design. Cal absolutely nailed it on these prints - they're so bold and bright!
The paper measures 19 x 25.5 cm (about 7.5 x 10 inches). It will frame nicely in a standard 10x12 frame.
Each print is numbered.
The color was applied in the traditional Japanese method, with hand-carved blocks, ground pigments, and hand printing on handmade paper.
We hope you'll support new carver/printers like Cal by collecting their prints.
Thank you!
