'Samurai Castle vs. the Briny Beast' Giclée Print
Edo Period Mechas vs. Kaiju!
I love playing around with the concept of Edo Period mechs. Steampunk is a cool aesthetic, but it’s often very Eurocentric in design. I like to take the steampunk approach, but apply it to 1800s Japanese architecture and form. It’s such a fun challenge, and I love the results in these two new prints!
The left caption says: 或る日、海上に紅殻魔海老現る。
鉄城・白鷺丸の勇敢なる技師等、蒸気を轟かせ之を撃退せり。
...which translates to: " One day, the Crimson-Shelled Demon Shrimp appeared upon the sea. The brave engineers of the Iron Castle Shirasagi-maru, with thundering steam, drove it back."
The right caption says: 怪獣大戦記録, which translates to: "Record of the great Kaiju War"
NOTE - You can choose between two paper types for your print:
1) Handmade Japanese Paper: Created by the Kikuchi Studio in Ehime Japan, this paper features a lovely mulberry texture and rough deckled edges. The overall effect makes our giclée prints look like real historical Japanese prints. I'm very proud of these!
2) Western Paper: This is a high quality 80 lb cover paper, similar to hot press watercolor paper. My art prints look stunning on its smooth, matte finish. This is the paper I usually bring to conventions, so if you have purchased art from me at a live event, you probably have this paper style.
Every print is signed by the artist.
Measures 12x17 inches.
FRAMING:
This print looks great in a standard 16 x 20 frame (US, Canada) or 40 x 50 cm (everywhere else).
Inside the frame, you can place your print over a sheet of colored paper for a lovely effect. Canson makes textured paper in many colors. It looks great at a low price. Here's a link.
