Instead I wanted to focus on the anachronism between a futuristic mobile suit walking through an 1800s temple scene. The contrast is quite stunning I think!\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe top cartouche reads \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"JA\"\u003e可動\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"JA\"\u003e鎧 - and the \u003cem\u003efurigana\u003c\/em\u003e (tiny characters next to the \u003cem\u003ekanj\u003c\/em\u003ei) literally say \"mobile suit\".\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"JA\"\u003eThe bottom cartouche says \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e幾度とり払われるとも止めどなく花をうえつづけるぞ, which means, \"\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eNo matter how many times they get wiped away, we will never stop replanting the flowers.\"\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eThis is a handmade woodblock print. I can't believe how good this looks! We really are making \u003cem\u003egreat progress\u003c\/em\u003e with our apprentice printmakers. We teamed up again with apprentice printmaker William Francis to produce this handmade print. William is still at an early stage in his training, and is getting very close to competing with David Bull's Tokyo team. \u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe are setting a very low price for such a complex print. This is a great opportunity to own a piece of our history, as we slowly train up the next generation of printmakers. We thank you for investing in the future of this craft! In the process of making this print, William learned a ton! \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis design requires many individual impressions to achieve a full range of color. William uses the finest quality of \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/8I2NwEX7CPk?hd=1\u0026amp;t=2m28s\" target=\"_blank\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eyamazakura\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e (mountain cherry) to carve his printing blocks. The wood is capable of holding a very fine level of delicacy – every last detail is printed by the wood left standing, after the rest has been cut away.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe paper is handmade Echizen Hosho Washi, made by national living treasure, Iwano Ichibei IX. This is the exact same paper printers used over 200 years ago!
